About meHello! My name is Jasmin and I represent Young Labour members and Labour students on Labour's National Executive Committee.
Being a member of the party for 7 years I became incredibly aware that Labour's governing body, the NEC was very closed and young members weren't really aware of what it did. I ran to change that. I want to make our NEC more open to all young members so you can get involved and shape your party. Background shouldn’t affect your experience of Young Labour, and that’s what I’ll fight on the NEC to achieve a more accessible, engaging and democratic movement that everyone can be part of. During my time in Young Labour and as a member of the CWU, I’ve helped to set up Young Labour groups across the North West, run campaigns on foodbanks and produced a play that raised money for mental health charities. My proudest achievement though was the part I played in kicking out Esther McVey, the cruel Tory minister in the last coalition government. Young Labour’s at its best when we’re campaigning to change lives. I want to continue to build a young Labour that is open to everyone and that's why I'm going to use this website, along with my Facebook and Twitter to keep young members up to date with regular NEC reports, blogs and ways for you to get in touch so we can change Young Labour together. So please feel free to get in touch! Jasmin |
